In his upcoming exhibition at the Kristi Engle Gallery, New York-based artist Bernie Yenelouis presents a new photographic series that focuses on his hometown of Detroit through the lens of his personal memories. Using the technique of shooting from the hip with polaroid film and then re-photographing the polaroid in medium format, Yenelouis both blurs and re-frames the city's legendary decay. Rather than describing the city in detail, he instead gives an intimate tour of what is remembered as well as what is forgotten. This will be Yenelouis's second exhibition with the gallery.
